Zhianawa Cancer Center (ZCC) is a public, tertiary cancer care facility dedicated for radiotherapy since its establishment in March 2009. ZCC is not only covering the cancer patients in Sulaymaniyah governorate, but its patients are coming from all the regions of Kurdistan and Iraq. All the services of ZCC are free-of-charge.
In late 2012, ZCC was accredited by the Kurdistan Board for Medical Specialties (KBMS) to be a training center in radiation oncology and the 1st batch enrolled in the structured program by July 2013. This residency training was in-fact the only running board (high specialty level) in Kurdistan and in Iraq.
In 2014, ZCC was accredited again by the University of Sulaimani to be a training center in radiation oncology (for the 3-year MSc program in radiation oncology) and in medical physics (for the 2-year High Diploma program in medical physics).
